The brand new Suzuki Swift 2017 has been available to buy since June of the year. I spent weekly testing out the brand new model in the united kingdom. See my applying for grants this car below.
What’s the Suzuki Swift about?
The 3rd generation of the Suzuki Swift has hit the streets, and it looks the very best to date.
The most recent instalment doesn’t differ an excessive amount of from its predecessors. Having said that, it can have a softer and more friendly feel when seen from leading. A, B and C pillars have already been blacked out, enabling a snazzy ‘floating roof’ effect. Whichever way you consider it, this is an excellent looking car. And the Speedy Blue tint is specially eye-catching.
A brief and sweet set of trim levels are for sale to this car in the united kingdom:
- SZ3: The bottom model. 6 air bags, air-con, DAB radio, privacy glass, daytime running lights and Bluetooth.
- SZ-T: The mid-range model: Adds smartphone link, rear view camera, front fog lamps and 16″ alloys.
- SZ5: High-end spec: Adds navigation, LED headlamps, polished 16″ alloys, rear electric windows, Dual Sensor Brake Support and Adaptive Cruise Control. Optional ALLGRIP Auto 4WD is designed for those wanting more grip.
I tested out the 1.0-litre SZ5 Boosterjet SHVS. A spunky three cylinder turbo engine powers out 111 PS and 170Nm of torque. This car can hit 0-60 mph in 10.6 seconds, and reach a high speed of 121 mph. It’s not the fastest kid on the market, however the new Swift continues to be a nippy little drive. Power is directed to leading wheels with a 5 speed manual gearbox. And the Swift includes a hidden talent; a mild hybrid system called SHVS, enabling better efficiency. With this nifty little trick up their sleeve, Suzuki’s third gen Swift can return a combined fuel efficiency figure of 65 mpg and only create 97 g/km of CO2.
How Does it Drive?
Having tested out both 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engines,I chosen a clear winner. The 1.0-litre was a complete head and shoulders out in the front with regards to power and pure fun. Weighing just 925KG, the three cylinder turbo pumps out a lot of power for an engaging and swift – excuse the pun – drive. Although the 0-60 mph time felt longer compared to the spec suggested (10.6 seconds), I had some fun revving up the raspy little engine completely to the limiter.
Suzuki have made noticeable improvements in this model with regards to cornering. This lighter, stiffer model, thanks to its new HEARTECT platform, tackles corners with better agility and ease. The 3rd gen swift is a great, playful and dynamic supermini.
Lightweight construction leads to a huge amount of benefits and improvements over previous models. This model feels much less sluggish than previous models. To put it simply, it’s a lot more energetic and sprightly. With regards to general, day-to-day driving experience, that is a clear bonus. For instance, leaving from standstill at traffic lights and getting back up to date can be an easy feat. Talking about waking up to speed, this car is most beneficial enjoyed when on sweeping, national limit roads – that’s when it certainly feels great to operate a vehicle.

This is an inexpensive car, and the apparatus ratios have become well planned out against the three cylinder engine. One little gripe I had was the apparatus shift feeling just a little clunky. That said, I did so enjoy shifting the gearbox in this all-new Swift. It’s an ideal fit because of this car. I’d choose it any day over the six speed automatic gearbox – while this may be useful if you sit down in a large amount of traffic, it just isn’t any fun.
One thing that’s key for this model may be the SHVS mild hybrid system. Importantly, it creates no complications whatsoever for the driver of the car. If anything, it’s an undisputed asset. The machine assists in delivering the energy of the electric motor, meaning greater fuel efficiency. And that’s really all you have to to know.
This car offers a whole lot of technologies. For an inexpensive, everyday drive, I came across this really impressive. The most recent Swift model includes techy features like:
- Electronic Stability Programme
- Advanced Forward Detection System
- Autonomous Emergency Braking
- Lane Departure Warning
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- High Beam Assist
What’s it Like Inside?
Getting in the Suzuki Swift, the automobile now looks bang up-to-date. In the most notable of the number SZ5 model the automobile is fully built with Smartphone Linkage Display Audio via its large touchscreen, plus three-dimensional navigation maps, mirror link, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system is quite well-planned.
Honestly, what’s never to be liked in terms of the inside design? It’s logically organized, easy and simple to use. There’s loads of room for passengers, both front and back, and the boot is significantly bigger than in the last generation. Simplicity, logic and practicality are winning features that help open the entranceway to more buyers.
THE KNOWLEDGE
The Suzuki Swift’s punchy 1.0-litre engine does indeed deliver. I think it really is essentially the most amount of fun I’ve had with a three cylinder yet. The lightweight package of the Swift produces an extremely playful driving experience without taking the automobile to dangerous speeds on the united kingdom roads. This is an excellent achievement and better still for young buyers.
Verdict
The all-new Suzuki Swift by far exceeded my expectations from just what a car in this class is with the capacity of. There isn’t much never to love about any of it. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, that makes it great fun to operate a vehicle. The 1.0-litre engine delivers power per tonne that comes near matching the prior Swift Sport – a notable achievement alone. The 3rd gen Suzuki Swift is a safer, more practical, and generally more pleasurable car to operate a vehicle. From my connection with it, I could say that it’s, hands down, th
